The Malossi intake manifold plays a fundamental role in the engine feeding process, allowing the access of the air-petrol mixture through the reed valve.

The total efficiency of an engine depends on various factors, including volumetric, thermodynamic and mechanical efficiency. The volumetric efficiency represents the ratio between the quantity of mixture introduced into the combustion chamber and the engine displacement.

One of the main influences on volumetric efficiency is the friction that the incoming fluid (air-fuel mixture) encounters on its way from the air filter to the combustion chamber. The intake manifold plays a significant role in reducing these losses by ensuring a smooth passage of the mixture with well-designed sections and angles.

Additionally, the intake manifold acts as a fresh charge accumulator, allowing the mixture to compress against the reeds as the reed valve closes. Each manifold has an optimal speed range in which it expresses maximum efficiency.

Besides that, the manifold performs the role of supporting the carburetor by connecting it to the crankcase or cylinder, reducing the transmitted vibrations and preventing the emulsion of gasoline and air in the carburetor bowl.

Malossi manifolds, developed thanks to decades of experience in the field of engine fuel systems, offer a new line of rubber and aluminum alloy manifolds for latest generation scooters. These manifolds have been tested and developed by Malossi technicians both on the road and on the track.

In particular, the Malossi rubber manifolds have a composite structure with an aluminum insert incorporated in a plastic material resistant to oils and petrol. This ensures a solid fixing base to the crankcase and good elasticity of the manifold body.
