Steering damper with electronic control EC
The Ohlins Smart EC software that controls this steering damper is already pre-programmed in the SCU of the Yamaha R1M. The steering damper is controlled by the Smart EC algorithms and reacts to both speed and acceleration. It continuously changes the damping settings in real time to instantly adapt to driving conditions so as to guarantee the perfect feeling.
The already excellent mechanical function of the Ohlins steering damper is further improved by the Smart EC algorithms, and the result is an ideal platform for all drivers who want both to improve road performance and to reduce lap times. This system allows the rider to control the accelerator with greater safety, reassured of the EC steering shock which gives extra stability and will prevent shaking of the head and the "tank slappers". The driving experience is also less demanding from a physical point of view because it allows the driver to concentrate on driving and reduce fatigue during a track session.
